Osawa Onsen - Yodanoshyo

Osawa Onsen - Yodanoshyo

Origin of Osawa Onsen

During the Edo Meiwa era (1764-1772), steam was rising from several streams along the Satonaka River in Osawa.Knowing that it was a hot spring, the villagers obtained the permission of the head of the village (the Yoda family) to build a bathtub surrounded by Izu cut stone along the riverbank and bathe in it.

When I soaked in this hot water, my heart was relaxed and my fatigue was healed. In addition, it made the skin smoother, so it was called "makeup hot water" or "beauty hot water" and attracted the interest of women.

The effect of not feeling cold after bathing and having a good night's sleep after bathing is known to the neighborhood, and the number of people who come to the bath has increased. This is said to be the beginning of Osawa Onsen.
